Miracle in Mt. Horeb

Miracle in Mt. Horeb

plannedparenthood9-29-16bAs many of you may know, we were blessed to have the International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima here at St. Michael the Archangel Parish on top of Mt. Horeb, WI. If that was not enough, Our Lady was here on the Feast Day of our Patron Saint, St. Michael the Archangel (Sept. 29). We had heard of so many blessings and miracles associated with this beautiful image of Our Lady, so we were very hopeful Mary would bless many on the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel.

The day began as we brought Our Lady out to the front of Madison’s Planned Parenthood at 3:00 PM, the Hour of Mercy. There is a great story about what led to this HERE. This was a very powerful time of prayer with many prayer warriors in attendance, as we all prayed for the closure of Planned Parenthood. The priests in attendance also silently prayed the prayers of exorcism of a place.

We then brought Our Lady to my parish in Mt. Horeb. We offered Adoration and Confession from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, and hundreds of people came during this very powerful time of prayer. At 7:00 PM, Fr. Stephen Imbarrato of the Priests for Life offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass (Novus Ordo ad orientem). We were also blessed to have the Knights of Divine Mercy Schola Cantorum offering Gregorian Chant and a number of beautiful Marian motets.

I received a phone call today from Joe Draves. Both Joe and I, along with many others from around Madison and beyond, are close friends with David Stiennon (David actually sings in our Knights of Divine Mercy Schola … you can see some of the schola behind Our Lady in this photo). David is the President of St. Ambrose Academy.

David discovered he had an aggressive form of cancer, and was beginning his chemo treatments, which were to be followed by a bone marrow transplant, and other aggressive treatments. We have all been praying hard for him.

Joe tells the story of how he was in a long line, yesterday, to wait his turn to kneel before the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. Once Joe got to the statue, he knelt down and began to pray for David. While he was praying, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, telling him he received a text. Joe wasn’t going to check the text while he was in prayer, and this prayer was immediately followed by Mass.

Here’s what Joe wrote to me just now …

David shared his situation last week with our Ambrose families. Treatment was expected to involve both chemotherapy followed by marrow transplants – and the prognosis was less than optimistic.  Last night, David’s text explained new medical hope that chemo could very well effect the cure that we’re petitioning (Probably best read as “putting the disease into remission”). This message of new hope was received as I prayed in front of the Fatima statue … even though I didn’t read it until Mass had finished 2 hours later. I wrote my petitions as I knelt before the statue – David’s name at the top of my short list.

Joe and I both got kinda choked up as he shared his story with me on the phone today.

Thank you, Mary our mother! Thank you, God!

Ad majorem Dei gloriam!

Please keep David in your prayers.
