The Zippies Have Arisen and Are In Charge!

Emboldened by leaders in the world and in our Church who pine for the era of Woodstock and Seamless Garments, the Zippies (half zombie, half hippy) are on the rise … they are in charge. Thus, we are treated to some oldies, but goodies …

“Cops are pigs!”

“No justice, no peace!”

“My Body! My Choice!”

“Save the Planet!”

“Hey, Hey,  DC! We want to live sustainably.”

“Love wins!”

“Sexist, racist, anti-gay! Born-again bigots, GO AWAY!”

“While commerce in the remains of defenseless children is particularly repulsive, we should be NO LESS APPALLED by the indifference toward the thousands of people who die daily for lack of decent medical care; who are denied rights by a broken immigration system and by racism; who suffer in hunger, joblessness and want; who pay the price of violence in gun-saturated neighborhoods; or who are executed by the state in the name of justice.”

The hippies of the 1960s have become the leaders of today. If you were a teen in the 60s, you are now in the age group that, typically, runs things — The media, Hollywood, TV, universities, public schools, theater, the arts, literature, and the Catholic Church — everything that drives the message in our culture. They emphasize some things, and deemphasize others. As the hippies of the 60s gained control of virtually everything, they have reemerged or, you might say, risen from the grave of obscurity, and now stalk every source of influence in our culture.

One example includes the recent undercover videos exposing the horror of millions of babies mutilated by Planned Parenthood. The “portion” of the nation who have seen these videos are shocked and appalled, to put it mildly. Yet, since abortion is the sacrament of feminism in the church of zippies, the “zippies in charge” refuse to cover this story and, instead, attack those who courageously exposed this horror.

Christian heads are being lopped off; people are burned alive; tens of millions of unborn babies have been slaughtered; illegitimacy rates have soared; divorce has skyrocketed; pornography is rampant; drug use has exploded — and we are told to use paper rather than plastic at the grocery store and rename all of the sports teams.

While many of our youth have fallen prey to the influence of the rise of the zippies, there is hope. The force of nature will diminish the number of zippies in charge. I just hope the next group in charge doesn’t make us wear big hair and dance under mirror balls.
