WATERFALL OF GRACE

WATERFALL OF GRACE

“The greatest saints, those richest in grace and virtue will be the most assiduous in praying to the most Blessed Virgin, looking up to her as the perfect model to imitate and as a powerful helper to assist them.” -Saint Louis Marie de Montfort

WATERFALL OF GRACE

True story …

At my last parish in Montello, we had built a small waterfall from (the rare and famous) Montello granite. Also, Montello is known for it’s beautiful waterfall right downtown.

Some time before this, some priest friends and I went to study in Rome for 3 months. We made a trip to Sicily, and Mt. Etna, while we were there. In the gift shop, I bought a Buddha made out of the volcanic rock from Mt. Etna, and joked with my friends that I would rub the Buddha’s belly every time I wanted a Green Bay Packer touchdown.

The Buddha sat on my TV in the rectory, until one day I felt a very strong call to destroy it. I brought it out to the Waterfall of Grace in the backyard and, as a kind of offering to Mary, I broke the Buddha on the granite in front of the waterfall.

Moments later, I decided to take a picture of the beautiful waterfall to email to a friend. The reply to my email was, “How did you do that?” I replied, “Do what?” The reply came back, “Did you photoshop that image in the water?” I looked again at the photo, and there it was … a beautiful image of Mary and child.

Do you see it?

I love you, Mary!

UPDATE: Here is a couple more looks at the photo …
