My beautiful dog, Lady, seems to have mastered the English language. Actually, no. Without ever reading a dog-training book, I have come to know that Lady understands my “tonal inflections.” The “way” I say things is what she understands, and she responds.

“You wanna go outside?” And, off she goes to the door. “You want a treat?” And, over to my desk drawer she stands. “Not spose da!” And, down goes her head, knowing she is being corrected. I could say, “The sky is blue,” in my “Not spose da” tone and inflections, and her head would still go down. She knows tonal inflection, and responds.

Why am I talking about Lady right now? Because I have witnessed the same “dog-like” responses among the electorate.

I’m watching these politicians getting away with murder and, for a time, I wondered how that could be happening. Then it hit me … “The electorate are doing what Lady does!!” They are not even paying attention to “what” the politicians are saying, or what they have done or are doing, as long as “how” they are saying it tickles their ears.

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires” -2 Timothy 4:3

I thought about this, again, the other day, when Ed Henry “finally” got to ask Hillary about her “email scandal.” Here she is in the middle of an FBI criminal investigation for leaving top secret government documents on her unsecured email server, AND, criminally, destroying said documents by wiping her server clean, and Hillary Clinton clowns about it. So, a large swath of the country looks on and dismisses it as nothing, and laughs right along with Clinton. It’s just too easy to deceive these days!! Are we dogs?? Do we even bother to take the energy to think any longer?? Are these “tonal inflections” enough for us??

While the Clintons are the Masters of “tonal inflections,” the new kid on the block is Donald Trump. Here’s a guy who was a big ole Democrat for years. He called immigrants murderers and rapists; he said McCain wasn’t a war hero; he still defends Planned Parenthood; he still wants a single-payer health care system; he says we should go into the Middle East and take their oil; and on and on and on. And, he is leading, by a long shot, in the polls. Why? Because people say, “We like the WAY he talks.” Are you kidding me?? Are we dogs??

Friends, please “use your head” going into this election. A “head” that is well-informed of the teachings of the Church. A “head” that looks beyond the “way” these candidates are speaking, to “what” they are actually saying. We are NOT dogs … we are God’s children!!
